2011 Health Career Expo

The Manchester Regional Campus hosted the 2011 Health Career Expo on September 15.  Over 500 high school students from Breathitt, Clay, Jackson, Lee, Owsley, and Wolfe attended the event.  The purpose of the expo was to promote health career awareness and overall post-secondary attendance in the region and was initiated by a partnership between EKU Manchester, Manchester Memorial Hospital, and the Southeast Kentucky Area Health Education Center.

The students received hands-on training and participated in numerous activities ranging from career counseling, drawing blood, life saving techniques in a mobile simulator, laparoscopic surgery on a simulated patient and much more!  Some of the participating vendors included EKU Manchester, SKCTC Respiratory Care, Union College, Cumberland University, Manchester Memorial Hospital, HCTC Medical Sonography, Kentucky Pink Connection and UK College of Health Sciences.
